The Accrington Pals
Thursday 27th November 2014
In the early years of the First World War, Accrington in Lancashire becomes the smallest town in England to raise a Pals' Volunteer Brigade to fight in the Battle of the Somme.
Peter Whelan's compassionate, funny and moving play looks at the terrifying experiences of the men at the front and charts the day to day lives of the women left behind, for whom life will never be the same again.
The wonderfully light hearted moments contrast with stark reality of life faced by the Pals in the trenches.
